The contractors have started creating their works site, putting up boarding.
Key dates:
Mon 12th Sept: Work starts
Thurs 22nd Sept: Pile installation starts for approx.
6 weeks
May 2023: Anticipated project finish
There will be a lot of disruption over the first
couple of months while the piles are being put in,
but once this is done, smaller plant will be used
for the rest of the work, so noise and disruption
will be much less.
Work will be from approx. 7.30am – 6pm, Mon-Fri
and 7.30pm-5pm Saturday.
There will be no public access to the jetty during
the project, though the fishermen and Outward
Bound will still have access. The boats that are
being stored in the main car park will have direct
access to the beach and estuary from the car
park, while the boats stored on the wharf
gardens will be launching from Church Bay.
Obviously this project will impact us all, but it is
vital it is done as without it, the yacht club and
the whole of the wharf area will fall into the sea.
